The Canal Boat Featured in The Times: Pomeroy Heads to Auction

A remarkable canal boat with a story as compelling as its design is heading to auction later this month.

Recently featured in The Times, the beautifully crafted narrowboat Pomeroy was created by Rosanna Irwin and her partner Killian after their first experience living on the water completely transformed their lives.

After what Irwin has described as a “quarter-life crisis”, the couple left London for canal life, purchasing their first narrowboat and immersing themselves in a slower, more intentional way of living. The experience proved so powerful that when they later sold the boat — famously via TikTok for £160,000 — they decided to build another vessel from scratch.

The result is Pomeroy: a thoughtfully designed canal boat that blends craftsmanship, calm interiors and practical liveaboard comfort.

Designing a Life on the Water

Building Pomeroy took nine months — significantly longer than expected — but the process allowed the pair to incorporate everything they had learned from living on their previous boat.

The result is a refined and beautifully detailed home on the water, designed for both full-time living and peaceful escapes along Britain’s canals.

From clever storage solutions to carefully chosen materials, every element reflects a deep understanding of life afloat.

A New Chapter for the Boat

Now completed, Pomeroy is ready for a new owner to take the helm and begin the next chapter of its story.

The boat is being offered for sale via auction with an opening bid of £195,000.
